What makes your school so unique?
Our ability to provide an individualized science based curriculum for each child is what makes The Jericho School so unique.  The instruction is intensive ABA teaching.  Most students receive one-to-one instruction for the majority of the day.  All of the instruction is based on the science of Applied Behavior Analysis and Skinner’s analysis of Verbal Behavior.

Is the school just for children with autism?
No specific diagnosis is required for a child to be enrolled in our school or Communication Clinic.  Students with a variety of developmental disabilities attend The Jericho School.  The “label” is really not as imperative to us as the individual needs of each child.

Is The Jericho School a residential facility?
No, The Jericho School is exclusively a day school.

Do you provide transportation?
The Jericho School does not provide transportation to or from our school.

Why is the tuition so high?
Each student has an individualized program provided in a one-to-one or two-to-one environment.  The majority of our operating budget goes directly towards our staff salaries and related staffing costs.

Are there grants or scholarships available?
The John McKay Scholarship may be available for qualifying students through the Department of Education.  You can find out more information by visiting www.floridaschoolchoice.org.

Is there a waiting list?
There is usually a waiting list for enrollment in The Jericho School.   Enrollment openings depend on availability in the classroom appropriate for that student.

Do you include speech and occupational therapy in your curriculum?
A great deal of our therapy works on articulation and shaping vocal behaviors through successive approximations.  We also work on large motor, fine motor, handwriting and other skills depending upon the student’s needs.

Is the instruction one-to-one intensive ABA therapy all day long?
A great deal of what we do is ABA therapy but we also recognize the importance of generalization, socialization, normalization, Natural Environment Training (NET), and play skills.  We have a combination of one-to-one training, small group, NET, peer interaction and appropriate play time.

What is your success rate?
Our emphasis is on each individual student and the “success” that student can achieve.  We create individualized programs with specific and measurable goals.  Throughout the school year, data is collected and graphed to track the student’s progress and Progress Reports are sent home on a quarterly basis.  Success is achieved when each student reaches their full potential.

How many years does a child stay at your school?
A student is usually enrolled at The Jericho School one to three years.  We work to equip students with the skills that will make them more successful in a more typical learning environment.  Most students will not have one-to-one instruction for their entire educational career.  Our goal is to give students the intensive individualized instruction that can heighten their ability to gain skills and become good learners.
